Glenn Hennig

Glenn Hennig, Chairperson

Mr. Hennig of Hilliard has been appointed as Chairperson for the Northeast Alberta Community Board for PDD. Mr. Hennig is currently owner/operator of a farm. He brings his experiences from several volunteer roles and direct experience with the developmentally disabled. Mr. Hennig served a three year term as a board member for the Northeast Alberta Community Board immediately prior to his appointment as Chair. During his time with the Northeast Community Board he was an active member of the audit committee, the governance committee, and he assisted with regional conference planning and attended many provincial events on behalf of the Board. He has experience serving on local boards, including Lamco Gas Co-Op and Lakeland REA and has served as a 4H leader. Mr. Hennig received his education in Mundare and attended the University of Alberta, General B.A. program, for 3 years.

Kathryn Kozak Wiebe

Kathryn Kozak Wiebe

Kathryn Wiebe is married to John Wiebe and they have four sons. Prior to moving to Bonnyville, John and Kathryn lived in Calgary and Nanaimo. Kathryn received her M.A. from the University of Alberta and has a background in teaching and mediation accreditation. She was Family and Community Support Services Director for nine years and then was elected to the Bonnyville Town Council in 1992. In 1998 she was elected Mayor and in that capacity participated on many regional boards and committees until 2004.

Kathryn Wiebe was a Canadem (Canada’s Civilian Reserve) election observer for the 2005 election in Ukraine. Currently she sits on the Beaver River Watershed Alliance and Lakeland Industry and Community Association (LICA). In 2008 she was appointed to the University of Alberta Senate.

Sherry Schultz

Sherry Schultz

Sherry Schultz of Elk Point is a business owner and community volunteer. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of business and education. She is also a parent of a child with a developmental disability and has also served on several boards. She is currently Chair of the Northeast PDD Board Audit Committee, was Chairperson of the St. Paul Community Council for Persons with Disabilities, and Co-chair of the Northeast PDD 2006 Conference Planning Committee. Sherry brings a commitment to the Board, its functions, and to persons with developmental disabilities.

Brenda Wakeford

Brenda Wakeford is a strong believer in life-long education and health literacy. She has a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Brenda has extensive and diverse experience over a thirty-eight year nursing career and she excelled at facilitating, and taught many alternative holistic practices. Brenda taught at Portage College in Lac La Biche and St. Paul as well as with Edmonton’s Continuing Adult Education. She continues to own and operate her own business, The Wisdom Well. Prior public service experience includes being part of a City of Edmonton Advisory Board.

Brenda was born in Edmonton, where her parents still reside, and she now lives in St. Paul. She is a mother of two adult children and grandmother of three girls and four boys. Other interests include reading, music, and travel.

Over her lifetime, she has had both personal and professional experience with many disabilities and has seen the varied range of life outcomes that are possible. She is looking forward to participating on the North East Community Board for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.


Jason Schulz

Jason was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and currently resides in Fort McMurray, Alberta. After graduating from the University of Regina, he moved to Tokyo, Japan and lived there for seven years. During this time, he traveled to different countries and acquired many unique life experiences.

In 2004, Jason returned to Canada to pursue MBA at the University of British Columbia. He completed his MBA degree in 2006. Through his education and experience, he learned to appreciate and embrace diversity in life. This continues to serve him well in his current role as a Business Instructor at Keyano College and with community involvement.


Caren Mueller

Caren and her husband farm in the Vimy area. They have five children, one of whom has a developmental disability. Caren was always active in her children’s school life. She is a strong believer in doing the best for all and giving back to the community. She brings passion and commitment to the Board and to individuals with developmental disabilities. Caren has extensive board experience in a number of areas. She is an experienced and active school trustee. She also has an extensive background in finance and management.


Dale Drummond

Dale Drummond, CEO

Dale was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan and received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982 and completed his Masters of Arts from Athabasca University in Community Studies and Leadership in 2006. Dale has been a resident of the Northeast region of Alberta since 1982 and during his time he has extensive experience planning and developing a broad range of community programs.

Dale’s personal belief is that community organizations and individuals have the ability to identify their own needs and make critical decisions regarding their own leadership, resource allocation and priorities. Every community group and individual has capacity that must be drawn on in order to have success. It is through this growth and relationship development that brings success to individuals and communities.
