Person Centered Planning Research Project

As part of the overall effort to support Person Centered Planning approaches in Central Alberta a Research Project was completed in June 2005. This research was intended to review the work to date, identify findings and make recommendations for the future. A report on the Research Project was developed and is available below:

As a result of the research findings and recommendations, the PDD Central Region Community Board is now developing an action plan that will further support PCP. Key elements of the Action Plan include:

  • Establishing a roster of independent PCP facilitators
  • Establishing a roster of individual and family mentors to support PCP
  • Providing all families in Central Alberta involved with PDD with a PCP information package and follow up contact
  • Continuing to provide learning and training opportunities for individuals, families, staff, and others
  • Ongoing assessment of the extent of the use of PCP approaches and reporting of impacts for individuals, families, and communities

This Action Plan will contribute to the PDD Central Region Community Board Business Plan Goal of ensuring that "everyone who wants to participate in PCP will have had opportunity to do so."

Quarterly updates on progress on the Action Plan, as well as additional resources to support PCP,  will be published in the PCP section of the PDD Central Alberta Commuinty Board website.
