Expenses Not Normally Considered

Special Needs Assistance for Seniors does not normally fund these expenses:

• appliances – air conditioner, dishwasher, entertainment centres (DVD/Stereo/VCR players), freezer, trash compactor
• debt
• farming/business/rental expenses
• furniture [with the exception of a bed and a television, funding is not provided for any kind of furniture (e.g. tables, chairs, bookcases, recliners, dressers, etc.)]
• non-essential home repairs
• insurance
• insurance deductible
• legal/professional fees
• medical expenses
• moving expenses
• other services – dry cleaning
• recreation/entertainment
• repairs needed as a result of flood, fire, wind etc. that would normally be covered by insurance
• servicing lots – The program will not assist with the cost of bringing utility services to a property or into the house.
• vehicle expenses - The program will not assist with the cost of vehicle payments, leases, vehicle repairs or driver's tests.
